A Peer Has Been Charged With Sending Racially Aggravated Communications To Gina Miller

Rhodri Colwyn Philipps, a British peer and aristocrat, has been charged with sending "malicious communications" to Miller.

A peer has been charged with "malicious communications" for comments aimed at Gina Miller, the businesswoman who took the government to court over its plans to trigger Article 50, the formal process of exiting the European Union.

Rhodri Colwyn Philipps, aged 50, has been released on bail to appear at Westminster magistrates' court on 4 April, police confirmed.

He is reportedly from one of Wales' oldest aristocrat families, and holds the titles 4th Viscount St Davids, Lord Strange of Knockin, Lord Hungerford, and Lord de Moleyns.

Phillips, a hereditary peer, was arrested by the Metropolitan police in January as part of their Operation Falcon cyber crime unit.

The arrest was made following threats made online against a 51-year-old woman, understood to be Gina Miller.

Miller, who led the Article 50 case against the government and won, forcing a parliamentary vote, previously told BuzzFeed News she had received "thousands" of messages of abuse from a variety of people online.
