We need to talk about last night's When Calls the Heart episode - My Heart Will Go On real quick, cause I have issues...and rage. Lots and lots of issues and rage. And apparently, I may possibly be the only one that has it?? Let's discuss...
First of all, I need to say that I haven't had this many issues and had so much rage since the season two finale of Alias, when Vaughn drops the truth bomb that Sydney's been missing for two years...and he got married.
What could possibly be causing all this rage, you ask? How can Hallmark, the channel devoted to love, Christmas Countdown and Spring Fling etc. cause this much rage?
SPOILER ALERT - I REPEAT DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT/HAVE NOT SEEN SEASON FOUR'S EPISODE LAST NIGHT TITLED MY HEART WILL GO ON!
In last night's episode, we FINALLY GET THE RING WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
And the proposal itself was stunning. Beautiful. Gorgeous. The candles, the rose petals, the whole scene was what we've all been waiting for.
Because, at the same exact time, we ALREADY know that Jack is LEAVING to go "Up North" where it's gotten "really bad" to lead a "new division" at an "indefinite posting."
*Sigh* I just...I can't guys, I can't.
Looking past the fact that I have no idea if Daniel Lissing is done with the show or not, let's just talk about a few times Jack could have proposed way sooner than say, hours before riding out of Hope Valley.
Season 1 - Okay I grant you, I wasn't ever looking for a proposal during Season 1, BUT IF I WAS, he could have proposed when he asked her out to dinner.
OR he could have proposed at the Season 1 Finale.
Season 2, I'll admit was a bit rough. We had the family friend, kind of like an ex-boyfriend of sorts, Charles around.
But then Rip got lost in the mine and Jack and Elizabeth nearly died trying to save him and Jack wasted ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY.
Theeeeennnnnnnnnn we come to the pinnacle of that episode "With All My Heart," when douche bag Charles tries to propose and Jack sees it.
Thanks a lot, Charles.
It's fine though, it's fine. Because it's New Year's Eve! New chances! Jack knows that Elizabeth turned him down and he has the ring! Anytime now, anytime. Right? RIGHT??
Did he propose when they took the kids camping?
Did he propose when he told Elizabeth he bought land to build a house for his future life with a wife and kids?
Did he propose after he nearly died from pneumonia after getting caught in a flood when the river washed out the settlement????
If you're wondering at this point of season 3, I basically posted this gif at EVERY. EPISODE.

But no. No. Jack didn't propose. All season long. The whole thing. Or the Christmas Special. I was waiting.....
So here we are. Season 4. Episode 6. And Jack finally proposes. And then leaves. Did I mention that before??
But was I like that? OH HECK NO. I was over here like
HOW ARE PEOPLE HAPPY ABOUT THIS?? WHERE IS DANIEL?? WHY IS HIS CHARACTER LEAVING??
So, now we have to wait. More waiting. Great.
In conclusion - When Calls the Heart - you owe me some answers. Apparently I'm the only one that needs them, cause everyone else is just happy but I need some assurances! And until then, I'm just going to go watch December Bride.
