Athens may be one of the oldest cities in the world and the origin of Western civilization, but it's a bustling city that's very much part of modern civilization as well. This city is a dream come true for any history buff and lover of philosophy, democracy, art, math, theatre, the Olympics, architecture, and so many more things. Modern Athens is home to flea markets, amazing cuisine, museums, and natural wonders that need to be seen to be believed.

Bordeaux is the wine capital of the world, and if that wasn't enough, it has some of the best food in all of Europe. While you are enjoying your wine and cheese, you can enjoy sights such as the Bordeaux Cathedral and the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux. The best thing to do in Bordeaux is go on a tour of wine country and see the famous vineyards. And then drink more wine, of course.

Ciao! This beautiful city has everything: history, culture, delicious food, and incredible sights. Check out the Colosseum, the Via del For Imperiali, and the Roman Forum in the Ancient City if you are a history buff. If you prefer to spend your time in Rome shopping the day away, visit the Piazza di Spagna, where you can find the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and a plethora of designer shops. One of the most awe-inspiring places to visit in Rome is Vatican City. (yes, I am aware that Vatican City is technically it's own country but for the purposes of this article I am saying it is part of Rome) St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums are absolutely not-to-be-missed on your Italian adventure.

The Sagrada Familia itself is reason enough to visit Barcelona, Spain. The city also boasts beautiful beaches, great weather, a thriving night-life and some damn-good Sangria. Take a stroll through Parc Guell and climb to the top of the hill for a gorgeous view of the city and the Balearic Sea.

Berlin may be the coolest city in all of Europe, with its clubs that never close, crazy history, and punk population. Grab a beer and a Doner Kebap and chill in a Biergarten until the sun goes down, which isn't until around 11 pm. If you want to be more active, meet some new friends at a local bar and go to a 90s dance party or just wander and admire the unique street art. Berlin is truly a one-of-a-kind international city.

London is bloody massive, and one would be hard-pressed to try and explore the city in full in just a couple of days. Top sights include Saint Paul's Cathedral, the Museum of London, the Tower Bridge, The National Gallery, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and the Tower of London. The city's rich cultural and historical properties make it one of the best cities in Europe, and the world.

Paris, the city of love AND the city of lights, this city has it all! Take a walk down the Champs-Elysees, drink wine at a cafe overlooking the Seine, or take a trip to Versailles and imagine living the luxurious lifestyle of Marie Antoinette. Famous sights include: Notre Dame, Musee Du Louvre, Le Jardin Du Luxembourg, the Eiffel Tower, Musee D'Orsay, L'Arc De Triomphe, the Place De La Concorde, the Catacombs, Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, and so many more.

Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17th-century Golden Age. The city has a laid-back and socially progressive view that shows through its legalization of recreational marijuana, prostitution, and gambling. Although this city seems like it would be a crazy party town, its residents seem to enjoy the simpler things in life such as bicycle riding, chatting with friends, and reading. Amsterdam is incredibly peaceful, quiet and beautiful. The Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank's House and Vondelpark are some of the best sights of the small city. My advice? Rent a bike, chat up the locals and sit back and enjoy my favorite European city to visit.
