    LISTEN UP! I'm here to tell you why NYX Epic Ink Liner is my favorite black eyeliner in the history of ever. The holy grail of cat eyes. The blackest black ink known to humankind.

    It checks off ALL the boxes of a pristine liquid eyeliner, and more:

    1. It's black as fuck. Not a spotty, weak black. Like, one swipe and you get an intense paintbrush-like stroke of jet black pigment.

    2. It has one of the smoothest eyeliner applications I've ever witnessed. I don't have the steadiest of hands, but there are absolutely no bumps whenever I draw my lines. Nor do I have to really press down to get enough pigment out, so my eyelids are also grateful for not being tugged at.

    3. There's no smudging or displacement throughout the day! Even when I accidentally rub my eye, my instant panic is unwarranted because this shit doesn't budge. (Obviously, still treat that whole area with caution.) And apparently it'll also survive hot showers and sex. I leave those up to you to test.

    4. Within the constant struggle that is drawing a perfect cat eye, Epic Ink makes the process actually fun and pleasant. It's become one of my most favorite makeup steps. Even when wine tipsy. What can I say, I like the challenge.

    5. And did I mention it's only $8??? To be *very* honest, I'm not a drugstore makeup gal, so the fact that Epic Ink is such high quality for a low price point blows my mind.

    I've also had it for a year and my pen still hasn't run dry. HOW INSANE IS THAT?

    Ok, yes, the expiration date is technically six months, but I haven't had any issues with sensitivity. So heck yeah I'm gonna keep using it!

    I'm a fan of a classic wing — there's nothing more soothing than getting just the right length, curve, and height. Yes, you have to practice a bit to get used to ANY liquid eyeliner, this one included. Psst, here are some easy eyeliner hacks if you're in the market. Even after a year, the product still comes out just as nicely as when it did when it was new! Tip: It comes off kinda wet and shiny but dries down super quickly — just be a little careful about blinking and whatnot in those few seconds.

    P.S. The half moon tattoo, which is quickly becoming my go-to method of jazzing up the same winged liner lewk, is from Milk Makeup.

    Even thought I'm a total graphic liner newbie (I'm learning!!), Epic Ink comes through when you're tryna draw very precise lines.

    Random tidbit: I have terrible vision and need to basically be splat against a mirror to really see what I'm doing, but I feel so comfortable with this liner that I don't have to be that close. Conflated confidence? Who knows? It's JUST THAT EASY to use!

    Rambling aside, you can basically make Epic Ink go as heavy/thick or light/thin as you want. I love this particular look because it takes less time and lets more of my eyeshadow show!! A major plus.

    In terms of its ~dupe-ability~ of Kat Von D's Tattoo Ink Liner, I say...hell yes!

    Like, it blows KVD out of the water, especially given the $12 price difference. In my humble opinion, Epic Ink is waaaay easier to use and much more pigmented. I don't have a side-by-side comparison, but the brush is also much softer and less likely to pull at my eyelids — I'm very picky about brush stiffness and will have none of it.

    And as you can see, it REALLY doesn't move once it's set. I was pressing HARD each time and that was my fourth take, so...I don't know what else to say except I'm officially on team NYX!
