Alcoholic Boba Is A Real Thing And You Need It In Your Life

"That was a revolution for my mouth."

Here are two truths: Boba is amazing, and alcohol is amazing. Nothing could be more real.

And the way this year is going, we could use all the alcohol we can get. So what would happen if you COMBINED booze and boba? Luckily, BobaMaster Elton Keung had answers.

Let's see how our taste buds handled the experience:

    Green Tea Heineken:

Ingredients: Honey Green Tea, Heineken, and Honey Boba

Lauren's Thoughts: This tasted like I took a sip of beer and then a sip of green tea right after. The flavors didn't seem mixed at all, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing — I actually really liked being able to taste the two flavors separately and it'd be a great drink for anyone who doesn't really like beer but wishes they did.

Sam's Thoughts: Green tea and beer doesn't seem like the most obvious combination, but somehow it weirdly works. This was like a 3D drinking experience, where your taste buds were hit with the beer/tea combination while your tongue was hit with boba balls. This would be an EXCELLENT way to take your Friday night to the next level.

    Our Boba Rating: 4/5

    Taro Mezcal:

    Ingredients: Taro, Mezcal

Lauren's Thoughts: Holy smokes this was so fucking strong. I felt like I got slapped in the face with a shot and suddenly felt a very strong urge to be at the club. Wow.

Sam't Thoughts: This drink, while amazing, felt like a mistake waiting to happen. The smoky mezcal and creamy taro did work, but I don't think I'd be able to finish a full one of these — or if I did, I'd be in for the wildest Friday night ever.

    Our Boba Rating: 2.5/5

    Bobagasm:

Ingredients: White Russian, Butterscotch Schnapps Popping Boba

Lauren's Thoughts: Oh sweet baby Jesus this drink was a catharsis in a cup. I wanted to laugh. I wanted to cry. I loved this so much, I'll never forget the taste of this. Because I'll be drinking it every day for the rest of my life. Bye.

Sam's Thoughts: This is the type of drink that the Weasley twins would secretly brew in the Gryffindor dormitory, only to be caught by Filch. It's THAT magical. The White Russian part is good, but the butterscotch schnapps bubbles are TO DIE FOR. Every time one burst in my mouth, my day got a little better (and a little more buzzed). This drink is SOMETHING.

    Our Boba Rating: 5/5

    Final Thoughts:

Lauren: Overall, this was such a nostalgic experience that warmed up my heart. Literally because of the alcohol. But also because of the feelings. It took me back to my childhood, which wasn't good all the time, but always great when boba was involved. I definitely will be drinking this again in the future, and am really excited to try more flavors!

Sam: Honestly, I'm surprised more places don't serve spiked boba. It's a match made in gastronomical heaven. Obviously, some combinations are better than others (the Bobagasm was way better than the Taro Mezcal drink) but I would treat my tastebuds to this experience again in a heartbeat.

Basically, go out there and get yourself some spiked boba!
