Hornets Late Season Push May Be Just Too Late For A Playoff Spot

April 1, 2017-- despite not holding a playoff spot, the Hornets continue to play good basketball and beat playoff bound teams. The Hornets are playing well defensively and clicking on offense. A once cold-shooting Frank Kaminsky is now knocking down at least three 3-pointers a game, including a career-high five on Friday night. Recent wins against top-four Eastern Conference teams Toronto Raptors, Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards give Hornets fans a false sense of playoff hopes. There are six games remaining for the Charlotte Hornets who sit 2 and a half games behind the Indiana Pacers, the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. There are six games remaining in the Hornets season, including games against playoff teams like the Wizards, the Hawks, the Celtics, and the Milwaukee Bucks. It looks like the Hornets will be doing some early summer work this year. They struggled for a few weeks, sliding from fifth position in the East to as low as twelfth. Coach Clifford will have some work to do this summer. He'll have to get some consistent defense next year and add a strong big man that can dominate in the paint and get rebounds on both ends of the floor...(Purdue's Caleb Swanigan *please MJ please*). The Hornets, baring a crazy change in standings, will have a lottery selection in this year's NBA Draft, but will most likely pick in the teens. All we as Hornets fans can hope for is a streak to end the season and some timely losses by a few Eastern Conference teams. Don't get your hopes up, Charlotte.
