Here's The Perfect Way To Spend A Rainy Day In Toronto

Usually people would let a rainy day be an excuse to stay at home and binge watch the newest season of Orange Is the New Black, but with this guide in-hand, you can have an epic day spent in the 6ix. Warning: rain boots are recommended.

Balzac's Coffee Roasters is a great place to grab a hot cup of coffee, apple cider, or chai latte to wake or warm you up. If you've got a sweet tooth that needs satisfaction try one of their hot beverages, now available in a chocolate-coated ice cream cone (and make sure to Instagram the heck out of it).

Locations can be found in the Distillery District, Liberty Village, the Image Arts building at Ryerson, Reference Library, on Market Street, or in the UP Express Station downtown.

Take a stroll through Allan Gardens

The indoor gardens located just off Carlton Street will lure you in with the promise of shelter from the rain. You can discover numerous tropical plants, a cute miniature train, oh, and little baby turtles. There are benches to sit and read or do some quick meditation in a relaxing environment.

Feast on a pulled pork sandwich from The Stockyards

With their amazing pulled pork sandwiches and homemade iced tea that's infused with ginger and lemon, this restaurant has been winning over the hearts of Torontonians. Make sure to get here quick, because there's very limited seating! If you do get the chance to eat in, the warm atmosphere of the restaurant will make you feel right at home.

In my experience, the best time to go is after 6 p.m. or during bad weather (which makes this place even more perfect for a rainy day!).

Until August 7, you can check out the Art Gallery of Ontario's collection of Latin American contemporary art which is being highlighted in its own gallery for the first time. The exhibit showcases numerous pieces of "contemporary art and highlights artists who create works that explore the world’s uncertainty," according to the gallery's website.

Plus, admission is free on Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m. to all general galleries.
