Can You Survive A Morning Routine As A Parent With A Preschooler?

Good thinking. Too early and you might lose steam halfway through getting ready and/or screw up your job from being exhausted, any later and you're gonna be LATE.

6:05 AM WAKE UUUUP

Good morning! Time to start the morning routine. Work starts at 9 a.m. — what time do you roll out of bed?

ALL! OF! THE! COFFEE!

Choose the optimal morning beverage to gulp down as you power through the morning.

You have so many cute Pinterest boards full of bento box ideas and adorable lunches but let's be real, you don't have time for that and your preschooler wouldn't eat half of it anyway.

CHICKEN NUGS

Crap, it's time to start putting your preschooler's lunch together. What will it be?

Redirect morning angst to junky breakfast foods and flashy cartoons!

DISTRACT & REDIRECT!

Oh great, your preschooler is awake and hungry and you're still in your pajamas. What do you do?

You can just do your makeup at work if you really must. Make it work!

All of the above pretty much every time.

You don't have time to do all the things! Quick, what do you skip to save time?

Okay so we would ALL like our preschoolers to look like adorable teeny hipsters, and many of our little ones may or may not want to wear their poofiest princess dresses 24/7 and in all contexts, BUT the REALITY is, MOST of the time, they're prob gonna be wearing an animal-themed tee and some stretched-out leggings.

BE REALISTIC

Okay, time to get your preschooler dressed. What outfit do you pick?

ALL OF IT.

You're almost out the door but your child breaks down into tears! Quick, what's wrong?

What about jar of change for the school fundraiser??? 100 small objects for the 100th day of school??? Wait, was it pajama day???? Ah, screw it.

DID YOU REMEMBER SOMETHING FOR SHOW & TELL

Alright! Tears are either dried up or your kid is still screaming, that's the way it works sometimes. Let's go?

Your morning routine is nowhere close to cutting it!

You are SO late to work

This might be okay once or twice, but not every day! Work on it.

You get to work a half hour late

You're only five minutes late!

You are ON TIME
