Russia's first all-female team of scientists heading into an experimental capsule at Russia’s Institute of Biomedical Problems faced a series of sexist questions on Wednesday during a press conference, according to local media.
But rather than let the questions slide, the six female scientists, aged between 22 to 34, called out the way in which women in science are commonly treated.
When they were asked: "How will you deal with being without makeup for eight days?" scientist Darya Komissarova replied: "We are very beautiful without makeup."
Then the team of six were asked by a male reporter: "How will you cope with not being around men?"
Some of the women laughed, and scientist Anna Kussmaul answered: "Those who will take part in an experiment are not concerned there won't be any men in their crew. We are here to do our job and we don't have time to think about men."
They added: "We consider the future of space belongs equally to men and women and unfortunately we need to catch up a bit after a period when unfortunately there haven't been too many women in space."
