There are pros and cons to buying a historic home. If you're game, great, but those with more modern tastes need not apply.

It sounds so sleek and contemporary! Guessing you'd like to have some doors in your home, though.

Look for more specific descriptors of what is actually updated, such as "marble countertops," "stainless steel appliances," or "home automation." Don't see 'em? You may just be in for a new coat of paint.

"Over the river and through the woods, to the grocery store we go!" just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?

On the other hand, being right on top of a string of sports bars that don't close until 3 a.m. or having your coffee knocked over by the rumblings of the expressway isn't going to contribute any feng shui.

This term is obviously very vague, which means there may not be a whole lot of nice things to say about the actual space you'd be occupying!

Yes, you're capable of getting yourself to the nearest public transit stop, but are you actually going to want to if it's two miles away?
