The Younger Brother Of One-Punch Victim Thomas Kelly Has Died

    Stuart Kelly was 19.

In another shocking tragedy for the Kelly family, the younger brother of one-punch attack victim Thomas Kelly, 18-year-old Stuart Kelly, has been found dead.

NSW Police confirmed on Tuesday morning that an 18-year-old man had been found dead on Monday in the northern Sydney suburb of Mona Vale, and that a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Dr Tim Hawkes, the principal of the prestigious King's School, which both brothers attended, confirmed in a statement on Monday evening that Stuart had died, News Corp reported.

“It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of an Old Boy of the School, Stuart Kelly (’15). This is the second great tragedy to affect the Kelly family,” Hawkes wrote.

“The exact circumstances surrounding his death are not known, however, it is enough to know that we have lost a member of our community and therefore our thoughts and prayers go out to Kathy and Ralph Kelly and their daughter Madeleine.”

Thomas Kelly died on a night out in Kings Cross in 2012 when he was struck by a single, unprovoked punch to the head.

The man who threw the punch, Kieran Loveridge, is serving at least 10 years in jail for manslaughter.

Kelly's death was one of the incidents that led to the NSW government introducing controversial lockout laws in Sydney's entertainment precinct.

At a gala dinner in 2015, Stuart Kelly, who was just 14 when his brother was killed, spoke of his heartbreak upon learning of Thomas' death.

"I look back at that moment, I was 14 years old. I was told by a stranger that my brother, my best friend, was going to die ... That was three years ago, however I carry a deep scar that you cannot see. It's always there. It never leaves."

"It sits below the surface of your skin and surfaces when you least expect it."

NSW Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances in Stuart's death.
