Toxic Monarch Butterflies

Did you know that monarch butterflies are toxic when eaten by predators? If a bird catches a monarch butterfly, they will immediately drop the butterfly because they can taste the toxin. This adaptation becomes beneficial because even though one butterfly may have gotten hurt or killed, the predator now knows not to eat monarch butterflies and will then not attack them in the future thus protecting more butterflies in the future.
