Pedro Perez, aka Blue Ear, was created by Nelson Ribeiro and Manny Mederos at Marvel Comics when the mother of a little boy named Anthony Smith wrote to the comics company and told them her son wouldn't wear his hearing aids (which he called Blue Ears) because no superheroes had them.
The resulting Marvel comic book was a big hit with kids both nationally and around the world!
