Celebrity-Owned Brands That Are Making Waves In The Beauty Industry

Various celebrities have launched beauty brands. They have changed the state of play in the industry. Whether their products raised questions on inclusivity or affordability, their brands have shaken the industry. Let’s look at which celebrity brands are making waves in the beauty industry.

    Rihanna: Fenty Beauty

Fenty Beauty completely changed the beauty industry. Many attribute the success to the founder and global superstar, Rihanna. However, Fenty is far from just a celebrity beauty brand.

The beauty industry always catered to the fairer skin, yet Fenty introduced the community to the words "inclusive beauty" with its range of 40 plus foundations to suit every skin color. The "Fenty Effect" took hold and established beauty houses scrambled to extend their shade ranges to accommodate different skin tones.

The issue is more significant than the foundations. It is about equality and representation. Fenty also proved to the industry that women of color have tremendous spending power, which is why every savvy brand knows that they will not grow without an inclusivity strategy.

    Drew Barrymore: Flower Beauty

Years in the makeup artist's chair inspired Barrymore to create her beauty line, Flower Beauty, designed to make women feel beautiful and unique and imbued with the Hollywood heavyweight’s contagious positivity and zest for life.

Flower Beauty is exclusive to Walmart. The brand is one hundred percent cruelty-free, formulated with the highest quality ingredients, and is also budget-friendly. It has earned praise from beauty industry experts and gained a cult following.

Flower’s Glisten Up Highlighter Chubby stick won the Best of Beauty Award in 2015.

    Kylie Jenner: Kylie Cosmetics

Kylie Cosmetics is the brainchild of Kylie Jenner, the reality star, who lost her billionaire title. The brand launched globally in 2016 and entered into an exclusive deal with Ulta.

Kylie's infamous "Lip Kit," consisting of a matching liquid lipstick and lip liner to create the perfect Kylie pout put the brand on the makeup map. The never-before-seen concept disrupted the market, changing the face of the beauty industry forever.

    Kim Kardashian West: KKW Beauty

Kim Kardashian West's line, KKW Beauty, was launched in 2017, and the limited-edition drops bring in double-digit millions in a single day. KKW Beauty has grown from contour sticks and fragrance to include lipsticks, concealers, and body makeup.

Are the products any good, or do they sell out regularly due to Kim's devoted fans? They are worth the money with her lipsticks a standout across the board.

Following Kylie's footsteps, the brand previously available only on Kim's site is now available at Ulta, both online and in-store.

Jessica Alba – The Honest Company

Jessica Alba co-founded The Honest Company to provide products made with ethically sourced ingredients. The company turned out to be the game-changer because of its non-toxic, natural products, and its approach to eco-conscious living.

The product Healing Balm, with sunflower-seed oil and shea butter, won the Allure Best of Beauty Award. Today, Honest has more than 100 consumer products online and is in over 17,000 North American retail locations.
