People Who Have Ghosted A Friend, Tell Us Why You Did It (And Whether You'd Do It Over Again)

Don't worry, we've all done it.

Let's be honest: it's really difficult to maintain adult friendships.

But no matter how hard we try, sometimes friendships have run their course and have to end. And perhaps, the only way to end a friendship was by ghosting.

If you're not quite sure what the term "ghosting" means, it usually means when someone abruptly cuts off all contact from a person without any explanation. So, with that in mind, what was the situation that made you have to ghost a friendship?

Of course, no one likes to be ghosted (or be the ghostee), but perhaps a friend wasn't respecting your boundaries and was bad-mouthing your romantic relationship because "they thought they knew what was best for you."

Maybe you found out that your long-time friend has been talking shit behind your back for years and completely denied it when you confronted them.

Or maybe your friend broke a beloved family heirloom and didn't say sorry or offer to pay for it.

BTW: Not cool.

Personally, I had to ghost (aka stop reaching out) a friend when I realized they were only texting me when they needed something from me — and it was incredibly painful to admit to myself that this was true.

Also, did you ghost them only after you had tried several other tactics — and nothing was getting through? Did anything happen post-ghosting that you did not expect? Would you do it over again?

Alternatively, if you've been ghosted by a friend — is there something you think people should know or consider before they ghost someone?

In the comments below, tell us the reason why you had to ghost a friend for good. And while this is 100 percent a judge-free zone, you can use this Google Form if you want to remain anonymous.
