Two Contestants Didn't Fall In Love On "The Bachelorette"

A source close to the show told BuzzFeed News that it's just reality TV editing.

No, two of the male contestants on The Bachelorette did not fall in love with each other, a source close to the show told BuzzFeed News.

A teaser for the June 1 episode in which contestant Clint Arlis says "falling in love with a man never crossed my mind" was intentionally misleading, the source confirmed.

In the teaser, titled Brokeback Bachelor, contestant Arlis says in an interview, “It’s absolutely insane. I never thought that I’d meet somebody like that." It's insinuated he's talking about fellow contestant JJ Lane.

He also says about Lane, "We've grown very close in the shower" as the voiceover intones, "This Brokeback Bachelor will blow your mind."

But the source close to the show told BuzzFeed News that the men were given "the strong hand of the editing pen."

The shower comment was regarding the house's "locker room-style" showers, the source added, which led to hangouts between the contestants during their copious amounts of down time.

A handful of news outlets posted the teaser clip and reported that Arlis was in love with Lane and that they were "hooking up."

Us Weekly even declared on their cover that the men had fallen in love with each other.

Arlis seems to be taking the rumors pretty lightly, openly making a few jokes about the insinuation on social media, including this tweet and an Instagram post with a Photoshopped picture of the two in the shower.

If you have to be a #BROKEBACKBACHELOR, Be Heath Ledger. Always be #HeathLedger. #thebachelorette @jjhlane21

On Instagram, he hashtagged the picture #slownewsday.

A spokesperson for the show declined to comment to BuzzFeed News.
