Why We Need To Be Talking About Project Semicolon

This organization is most important now more than ever before

Project Semicolon first made headlines in 2015, when founder Amy Bleuel's tattoo of a semicolon in honor of her father started a worldwide movement.

In the organization's description, it is noted that "in literature, a semicolon is used when an author could've chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life"

This sparked an important conversation in the media about the struggles of mental illness, and the challenges people with them face.

Despite her overwhelming strength and passion, Amy Bleuel died by suicide on March 31, 2017, ending her long battle with mental illness.

The world lost an unbelievable advocate for suicide prevention, and because of this, the topic should be relevant now more than ever.

This cause should be gaining even more momentum than it did when it first became popular because of, and in spite of, Bleuel's death.

Even though Amy's story may be over, she left behind an incredible legacy for people to continue to fight through their struggles.
