My Reasons Why "Thirteen Reasons Why" Is NOT A Bad Show.

This show has changed me as a person, and many others, even though I only stated 3 out of 13 reasons why.

Thirteen Reasons Why has been one of those shows that has a lot of hate, but also a lot of love.

    1. I feel the show does NOT glamorize suicide

Now, if you have ever read any opinions on the show or anything like that, you may know what I'm talking about. A lot of critics/viewers thinks the show glamorizes suicide, and they feel they made it seem like Hannah killing herself portrays revenge to younger or any viewer of the show and feels they went waaaaaaay out of hand showing Hannah actually kill herself. Since this may portray "revenge" kids who are in pain may feel like they want to do this to show to other kids whatever. NOW LISTEN. I, in no way, have felt like this show has gave off the "revenge" vibe. Hannah just wanted to tell her story, not make every kid feel guilty or responsible. I feel she just wanted to tell everybody what they did to her, but I do NOT feel this is a way of revenge. Now, I agree with the younger viewers should/may not be able to watch this. It is a very GRAPHIC show. They don't hold back from showing what actually happens. I feel like the younger viewer should be aware of what suicide, depression, etc., is before they watch so they have a better understanding of what the show portrays.

    2. It Shows Issues In The World That Some People Don't Shed Light On

This is one thing I actually really like about the show, if I'm being honest. After watching Beyond The Reasons I came to an understanding, they for instant, did the scene of the incident with Tyler in the bathroom, VERY GRAPHIC well because not many people in our society talk about how men get sexually assaulted, it's mainly women. I feel like they portrayed Tyler being sexually assaulted because it doesn't get talked about a lot, and it shows how he couldn't talk about it. He just did an action out of anger. If you watch Beyond The Reasons they talk about how men don't like coming forward about assault because they feel ashamed, or less like a man, which isn't true. I love + hated the scene because of how graphic it was, but I'm happy they did this because they know that this is a show that gets people talking, and I hope by them showing this scene, more men come out and talk about their story.

    3. Finally, Me and many others can relate to the characters because they have real-life situations.

Now you're probably wondering what character I relate to and it is indeed my favorite character, Zach Dempsey. Zach is someone who if they caused something, or did something bad, they just blame themselves a lot. Zach said in s2 he didn't feel like he could talk about his feelings about anything. I can relate to that. I blame myself a lot, and I don't feel like I can really talk about my feelings. The show has such strong characters, and a lot of people may relate to Courtney or Jessica, based on the events that has happened to them. I think this show is very strong with the story line, even though I think not all of it is the best, and the characters are sometimes just like others in our century who go through these things.

Even though I may only have 3 reasons on why this show is good, there are probably many more I am not talking about. Those are my top reasons and if you have any opinions on my thoughts or if you have different thoughts, I would love to hear them in the comments. I think a lesson for you to learn after watching this is be there for someone. Ask them if they are okay. Be the light in someone's darkness.
