9 Practically Free Ways To Donate To Charity

When the global social issues are getting you down, here are nine ways to make a difference on a small budget.

    1. Tab For A Cause

Tab For a Cause acts as your browser homepage. It partners with advertisers to raise money for a charity that you choose. The more tabs you open, the more you donate. The homepage is completely customizable, so you can add your favorite links and design it to fit your aesthetic while tracking your donations. Tab For a Cause users have donated over $400,000 to charity. Last year, it provided 5,688 people with clean water through Water.org and protected 182 acres of rainforest through Conservation International. You'll be donating to a good cause just by surfing the internet, could anything be better?

    2. Coin Up

With every purchase that has over 50 cents in spare change, Coin Up rounds your card's bill to the next dollar and donates the remaining cents to a charity of your choice. There is a $1.00 registration fee and 15% of your monthly donations act as a membership fee. In their app you can track your contributions, set up limitations, and view your impact with their monthly snapshots. It allows you to donate to a wide selection of charities, even ones that are local to you! Sign up now.

    3. Amazon Smile

If you use AmazonSmile, you will get the same access to Amazon's plentiful catalog. You will also get the opportunity to donate to a charity of your choice! If you see that an item is eligible for an AmazonSmile donation, then it will automatically donate a portion of the bill to charity, at no extra cost for you. Choose from over 1 million charities today.

    4. Charity Miles

Add some giving to your workout! With every walk, ride, or run, Charity Miles donates 10-25¢ per mile to charities of your choice. Like Tab for a Cause, the service is completely free and a part of your daily routine. Charity Miles raises the money through their corporate sponsors. They also have a podcast where they discuss fitness, getting motivated, and interview accomplished athletes. You'll have that extra motivation knowing that with each step in your daily workout, you're making a difference. Download the app now.

    5. Free Rice

Have a few minutes to spare and want a brain teaser that also makes the world a better place? Freerice is your answer. This trivia website will donate 10 grains of rice for every correct answer to the United Nations World Food Programme. Over 94 billion grains of rice have been donated since Freerice's inception in 2007. This requires no pocket change, only the power of your mind!

    6. Click to Donate

Like the idea of Freerice, but not feeling the brain teasers? Click to Donate just involves a simple click of your mouse and you will donate to charity. You read that right, just a click. There are multiple causes you can choose from and a helpful dashboard to showcase your impact. Get clicking!

    7. Fotition

    8. Appolition

Millions of Americans are incarcerated every year because they are unable to afford bail. Appolition collects spare change from your debit/credit cards and contributes to National Bail Out. 9. Two Apps for Microdonations

If you donate just 50¢ to ShareTheMeal, you will be feeding a child for one day, courtesy of the United Nations World Food Programme. $3.50 will feed one child for one week. Fueled by microdonations, ShareTheMeal has provided 24 million meals to children in need. You can track your donations through the app to see your effect in real time. You can even apply a ShareTheMeal filter and post a photo to your social media through the app to donate. Google's One Today app allows you to choose from a selection of microdonations to a variety of charities. Donations begin at $1 and each charity provides a short summary of the impact your donation will make. 100% of your donations through both of these apps will go to the charities you choose, no service fees at all!
