An intimacy coordinator was present on the set of Normal People when sex scenes were being filmed. The job of an intimacy coordinator is to create a safe environment for the actors; to insure the scenes conform to contractual agreements, and to ensure that there is consent from the actors. The Normal People author started a master's degree in politics at Trinity but completed a degree in American literature.
