Pablo is an enthusiastic, frenetic penguin, whose world revolves around his friends. Pablo is not the most graceful or agile Backyardigan, and with thoughts of his friend’s undergoing troubles, he is prone to panic attacks. However, with a determined attitude, Pablo constantly takes the lead, and reacts quickly to any scenario, saving his friends numerous times.

Austin, the “new kangaroo on the block” is sometimes hesitant to express his feelings. Although, when he overcomes his shy feelings, he shows his true colors as he is respected for his intelligent and sweet mindset. Due to his humbleness, he never asks for appreciation, but he receives tons of recognition and loves from his friends for all he does for them.

As an orange moose, Tyrone is confident and relaxed. With his easy-going personality, Tyrone is never insecure about his fears, and likes to take his time. He is best friends with Pablo, and due to their contrasting traits, they are a fun and effective duo. At the end of every episode, Tyrone recites the phrase, “That was an excellent adventure, don’t you think?” This shows that Tyrone is always an optimistic client to a good time.

Tasha is a brave hippopotamus, who is very determined to get her own way. Being sensible and skeptical, Tasha is never easily frightened, an attribute she takes pride in. At first, Tasha and her “bossy” attitude played an antagonistic role, however, later on, she becomes less domineering and becomes an assertive leader.

As an optimistic, highly energetic protagonist, Uniqua is a faithful companion to all of her friends. With an adventurous attitude, Uniqua is often the character to come up with new experiences. From time to time, Uniqua and Tasha get into disagreements caused by their contrasting mind-sets, however, they always find a way to come to an understanding and have a good time. With a compassionate heart and a determined attitude, Uniqua is highly appreciated and loved by all her friends.

Sherman is a young, yellow Worman, with orange splotches. He lives in the heart of the jungle and he is a great friend of the Backyardigans. Due to his minute size, Sherman is easily frightened. He is only fluent in Worman –ese, but Tyrone is still able to understand him. He also loves popcorn.
