On Your Mark, Get Set, Blog!

My take on a few of the most notable blog sites of the day.

    Blog Reviews

    Mashable

This blog site was by far the most notable of the three I selected. I read three blog posts by Nicole Gallucci, an intern for Mashable's Watercooler Channel. The first two dabbled in Hurricane Harvey and the 'first' family's 'suprising' response to the natural disaster - the last article provided readers with an in-depth analysis of Taylor Swift's newest single, "Look What You Made Me Do" or as the rest of the world refers to it, a clear Kanye West diss track. Mashable as a whole was fairly easy to navigate. At the top of the page (mobile) the reader is able to choose between 'hot' 'rising' and 'new' blogs. Readers can also see the number of shares a post has before deciding whether to view it or not. The only downside of this blog site is the layout of the home page. There are three different columns of blogs which are, in my opinion, very overwhelming. If it weren't for the categories at the top of the page it would simply be a large jumble of posts.

    Little Green Footballs

It was clear that Charles Johnson is the wizard behind this blog site. It is by far the least visually appealing in comparison to the other two blog sites. The background is a monochromatic gray while the green heading gives the page its only pop of color. That is why I believe that the majority of Johnson's posts are photos and videos. Mainly satirical rants from the likes of Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, and Jim Jefferies. Don't get me wrong I loved the content of the page but the visual components, not so much.

    Scripting News

This blog site falls right in line with Little Green Footballs when it comes to aesthetics. This blog site has a white background filled with centered lines and lines of what seems like wild thoughts - no DJ Khaled pun intended. "We The Best" would be the last phrase I would use to describe the visual component of this blog site. Although it may seem like aimlessly thoughts have been spat out onto the screen, it's not. Each post is actually very well written. Proper attribution, links for clarity, the whole nine!
