DIY How-To Tutorial: Glow-In-The-Dark Hot Potato

Ahh, Hot Potato - one of the classics! It can get a bit boring though. Potatoes aren't the most exciting of vegetables. If your kids, nieces, nephews are getting bored, what better way to light it up with some glow-in-the-dark fun?

Doesn't this seem a bit dull? How can we light things up a bit? Well, we've got a plan too! Grab some little friends (with adult supervision) and let's get crafty!

Easy! Just gather a few things:

* A potato

* Glow-in-the-dark paint (from your local art store!)

* A bright light (such as under a lamp or flashlight)

* Paintbrushes

Step 1: Select your Spud!

Make sure you ask your partners what potato is right for everyone! Big and bulky?Small and nimble? Something in between? Hot Potato requires some careful thought!

Step 2: Glow to Town with the Paint!

Take your selected spud and apply your Glow-In-The-Dark paint! Make sure the parents or older kids are around to help. Don't over-do it with the paint coat!

Step 3: Dry It & Light It!

Almost ready! The potato needs to dry to let the paint set in. Apply a bright light on the paint so it can work its magic on our special spud!

Step 4: Let It Shine!

Once the paint is dry and your light has charged the spud right up, turn off the lights and see the change right before your eyes. It's GLOW-TIME!

Step 5: Have WAY more fun playing Hot Potato

This is a family-friendly kid's craft activity that doesn't take a lot of time, but maximizes your fun once you get it done. Paint some plain t-shirts to match the potato to add some extra flare!
