Rajasthan Royals had traded off Ajinkya Rahane to Delhi Capitals. The franchise made the announcement on Friday, where they released the skipper. In return, they have bought Mayank Markande and Rahul Tewatia. The two bowlers released by Delhi Capitals had scalped amazing innings for the franchise in the last season. However, it seems the addition R. Ashwin has had them unhitch the two leg-spinners. Markande was picked by Delhi Capitals for 20lacs ahead of the 2018 Indian Premier League. Nevertheless, the leg-spinner proved his mettle for the team in his debut season.

Markande ended up picking 15 wickets for Delhi Capitals in the 2018 IPL season. The brilliant debut season earned Markande the national call. He made his debut appearance in the T20I against Australia earlier this year. However, the young bowler played in only three matches in the 2019 IPL. Meanwhile, Rahul Tewatia is an old-fashioned wrist-spinner who was bought by DC for Rs. 3crores. The 24-year-old cricketer was soon replaced by his senior Amit Mishra.

However, the release of Rahane from the Rajasthan Royals came as a big shocker to all. Rahane led the entire team to the eliminators of the 2018 IPL. However, the team lost the match to Kolkata Knight Riders and ended in fourth position. Meanwhile, in the 12th edition of IPL, Steven Smith came back in the mid-season. Then Rahane resumed as captain when Smith left IPL for the World Cup 2019. The trade, however, has confirmed that Smith will continue to lead the franchise team. Whereas they will have to keep in mind to include more of the non-English cricketers in their team. There are reports of Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, and Ben Stokes again leaving the league early next year.

However, the franchise also traded off their all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham to Kings XI Punjab. In exchange, Rajasthan Royals bought Ankit Rajpoot who is yet to play a match since being bought by the team ahead of IPL 11. The auction for the 13th edition of the IPL will take place on December 19 in Kolkata. And all the teams are supposed to submit their list of released players before the auction date.
