    A Man’s Guide To Valentine’s Day

A short guide on what to do for your partner on Valentine's Day.

    A Man’s Guide To Valentine’s Day

    What is Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s day is a day people show their love and affection for one another by sending cards, flowers, and chocolate. It is an opportunity to express your love for someone who you like. This is a very old tradition dating back to Romans times, they had a festival called Lupercalia, showed they liked a woman by beating them. From 13th-15th of February men celebrated the feast of Lupercalia, they often sacrificed a goat and a dog, then whipped the woman with the skins of the animal (I know, horrible, right?), but the woman believed this whipping would help them become fertile.

At the time of this festival boys drew girl’s names out of a box and they would be a couple till the end of the festival which could lead to marriage if the match was right. Later, the church wanted to use this festival to help remember St. Valentine.

When it comes to Valentine’s Day many men struggle, many ponder of what to do for the day until it’s the 14th of February and it’s too late, then their left with the one option, head down to Tesco and buy a bouquet of roses and a heart shaped box of chocolates. This article will give you a step to step guide on how to do Valentine’s day so you’re not that guy.

Step one: Get a good gift.

Valentine’s day is not all about Roses and boxes of chocolates, a gift should be well thought out, and no a bottle of expensive perfume just won’t do it, a gift like any gift should be well thought out, it should be something you have well thought out.

    Step two: Have a plan!

This may be the most important, no matter what you’re doing on the day you should have a plan to make your partner feel loved, so instead of buying flowers from the local supermarket why not go down to your local florists instead, buy a nice bouquet and send them to wherever your partner is. This will earn you some good brownie points.

No matter what you want to do with your day its always better to have it planned, so book that table at your favourite restaurant and ensure you have a plan for after.

    Step three: Surprise them.

It’s always good to try and surprise your partner, instead of them anticipating everything you will do on the day, it is better if they have no idea what’s going on. Be spontaneous, book a restaurant you’ve not been together before, try something new as a couple, this will help you get to know each other better.

Step 4: Try and spend the whole day together.

Although this isn’t always possible, you should still at least try to make it happen, try and spent as much time together as possible, its one day a year you should at least be able to spend that together, right?. Block out all the problems in the world and spend the day doing whatever you decide.

Step five: Do this more often.

Doing all of the above shouldn’t just be for Valentine’s Day, you should try and woo your partner all the time, it isn’t just about one day, you should surprise them in small ways all the time.

    It is pretty simple!
