With My Baseball Cap And Light Gray Hoodie, I Am Finally Ready To Work In Entertainment And Be Slightly Rude To Everyone I Know

If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere with a baseball cap and a light gray hoodie.

I moved into town three years ago. Big dreams and no money. The streets were mean to a young guy like me. I fell into the wrong crowd. Starting getting behind on my bills. Had to take a few.......odd jobs. Lost faith.

But I clung to my dream of making it. Making it big. I cleaned up, got sober, and went on Amazon prime.

Keep in mind, at this point, I was ready to give it all up. Move back home. Put up my coat. Call it a day. I still had that little fire in me though. And I knew that an Amazon prime purchase could ignite it again.

Like Gatsby's green light, it beckoned to me.

I don't even know where it came from. I think it was something along the lines of "Related to items you've viewed." In any case, it was just there. Existing. Calling out. To me.

    There it sat.

    Add. To. Cart.

Three little words. So innocuous on their own. But strung together? They made something magical.

    I felt unstoppable.

A renewed sense of purpose, of meaning, of divinity, had creeped into my life. I knew what had to be done next.

Timidly, I typed in the three words that would seal my fate and secure my future.

    Light.

    Gray. (or is it grey?)

    Hoodie.

    BOOM.

Almost instantly, the whole fiber of my being had changed.

I was saying things like "tell the PA to get it! She's been in a dumpster before." I was barking orders into my smartphone which was just a piece of cardboard with numbers written in sharpie on it. I was increasingly hostile to the barista who made me coffee every morning.

But here's the thing....I was happy. I had finally made it. I saw the fruit of my labor. The product of my hard work.

    And with that, I died.
