What Is Your Co-Worker Like? Do These People Make You Want To Scream?!

I have come across all types of people from coast to coast in my career. But there are a few types that have been consistent. The types that have been consistent are "The Schemer", "I am Da Man/Woman", or "Mr./Ms. Combative". Have you worked with people like this?

The Schemer

The Schemer is the person that keeps a phony smile on their face, but their scheming from within. This person stays close enough to you to figure out what your doing. The motive is to make you look bad so they can look good. For example, it's Monday morning and you and The Schemer are getting your day started in the company kitchen. The small talk begins with what you did over the weekend, how the weekend was too short, you have the typical Monday morning sluggishness, blah, blah, blah. The conversation goes into ideas you were thinking concerning a project, you start brainstorming and the schemer is taking mental notes. You go to your 10:00 AM team meeting, as your getting settled, the schemer starts spewing the ideas you just discussed and expresses he/she disagrees and the beat down begins. Your in shock and your confused because you didn't get to explain your own ideas from your perspective. Now its fallen on deaf ears because the schemer shouted your idea with a bullhorn then trampled on them in your face. You want to run in the bathroom and scream.

I Am Da Man/Woman

This person thinks they are Superman or Wonder Woman (no disrespect to either superhero). This person walks around boasting about how important they are because the CEO said hi to them at the company picnic. I Am Da Man/Woman intercepts with the schemer because he/she will do anything for attention or to feel important, even if its at the expense of your career.

Mr./Ms. Combative

This is the person that disagrees just to be disagreeable. It is a hour before its time to leave for the day and the team is finalizing their day. You need to complete specific tasks to remain on schedule so your vigorously in a collaborative state with the team so decisions can be made. Its now 15 minutes before the day is over, the team is close to finalizing the daily tasks, then Mr./Ms. Combative decides they do not agree with anything. Now you have to start over and your going to be late taking the kids to their after-school activities. Your skin starts to feel hot because you are so heated.
