🩷 Warning: There are OBVIOUSLY spoilers ahead for Barbie! 🩷
It's FINALLY here! Greta Gerwig's Barbie has hit theaters, and, as predicted, it is THE movie of 2023. Grossing a whopping $162 million domestically, making it the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman.
Starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, and so many more talented actors, Barbie follows Barbie (Robbie) as she decides to venture to the Real World from Barbie Land.
Not only is the movie hilarious, but people also can't help but point out how beautiful and touching Greta's film ends up being by the end as it explores womanhood and the relationship between mothers and daughters.
There are several moments throughout the film that have everyone laughing over how accurate they are, but one scene in particular is SO spot-on people can't help but feel like Greta was calling them out personally.
In the movie, after Margot's Barbie returns to Barbie Land to find out that Ken (Gosling) has brought patriarchy (and horses) to Barbie Land, in an attempt to turn it into "Kendom," Barbie falls into a bit of a depression.
Then, an advertisement for a new Barbie doll called "Depression Barbie" kicks in, and it's sadly so accurate that I felt like Greta has been with me on weekends when all I want to do is sit on the couch and binge-watch my favorite show.
And while the whole scene is hilariously relatable, it also includes a reference to Colin Firth's Pride and Prejudice from 1995, which truly just elevated the scene to a whole new level of, "oh my god, this is me" for a lot of fans.
Anyway, the whole moment was so funny and so good that people couldn't help but react on the internet to the scene. So, here are just some of the best reactions to Colin's Mr. Darcy showing up in the "Depression Barbie" ad in Barbie:
