7 Travel Destinations Unique To Japan's Kanto Region

Kanto Region is one of the most popular geographical areas in Japan as it includes the Greater Tokyo Area, along with other prefectures Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa. If your point of entry in the country is Tokyo, these are some of the unique destinations for a day trip from the capital.

#1 Hitachi Seaside Park, Ibaraki Prefecture

#2 Ashikaga Flower Park, Tochigi Prefecture

#3 Usui Pass Heritage Railway Park, Gunma Prefecture

#4 Bell of Time Tower (Toki no Kane), Saitama Prefecture

    #5 Tokyo DisneySea, Chiba Prefecture

    #6 Akihabara Electric Town, Tokyo

    #7 Yokohama Chinatown, Kanagawa Prefecture

There are 47 Japanese Prefectures subdivided into eight regions: Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu (including Okinawa). Each region has its share of travel destinations that are unique by virtue of geography and access to technology.

#JAPAN47project is an ongoing series of essays rounding up the most unique, if not the best, travel destinations in each of Japan’s 47 prefectures. It is my attempt at discovering the less traveled but equally fascinating attractions in the country.
