The film ‘Bull Durham’ is a comedy sports drama that was released in 1988. The film is directed by Ron Shelton, who most notably directed and produced the film the sports comedy ‘White Men Can’t Jump’. The film ‘Bull Durham’ was rated the number 1 sports film of all time according to Sports Illustrated. It was an instant success and one of the highest grossing sports films of all time. The film is loosely based off Ron Shelton’s minor league experience with the Baltimore Orioles. The film has a star studded cast including, Kevin Costner, Susan Surandon and Tim Robbins. The film follows twelve year minor league baseball player, Crash Davis who is played by Kevin Costner who gets sent down to the Single-A baseball team the Durham Bulls. The minor league baseball organization sends him down because they want to show the way of rising superstar catcher Ebby Calvin Laloosh who is played by Tim Robbins. The movies follows his experience with the Durham Bulls. The Durham Bulls are actually a real Minor League baseball team in Durham, North Carolina. The films location of this movie was in the city itself and at the old baseball stadium of the Durham Bulls, the Durham Athletic Park. Which is at the corner of Corporation St. and Morris Street. Durham is nicknamed the Bull city and that how the Durham Bulls got their name. Besides being home to Duke University, Durham is known for being the city in ‘Bull Durham’.
