Carolina Hot Air Balloon Festival

Where: Statesville, North Carolina
The Carolina Hot Air Balloon Festival, organized by National Balloon Charities, Inc., is the second-oldest hot air balloon festival in the nation. In Statesville, fest features live entertainment, a kids play zone and stage, beer and wine from North Carolina, festival fare, artists, and of course, balloon antics (static displays, tethered rides and balloon flights). Dozens of colorful hot air balloons take center stage as they launch.
Carolina Renaissance Festival
When: September-November
Where: Huntersville, North Carolina
This 16th-century show goes on for eight weekends, rain or shine and feature theater, jousting, and music. There’s unlimited games and rides at the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Ride the world’s largest rocking horse, enjoy a giant turkey leg, find your way through a maze, or try your hand at Queen’s Darts. The Carolina Renaissance Festival is one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
Matthews ArtWalk and JazzFest
When: September or October
Where: The Green at Matthews Station - Matthews, North Carolina
The Matthews ArtWalk and JazzFest brings a daylong celebration of local talent in the realms of art and jazz to the heart of Matthews. The two events include live jazz music, art exhibits, an arts and crafts market. Also there is an area where kids can create their own masterpieces. Artists and artisans can apply to be part of the offerings.
Rural Hill Amazing Maize Maze
When: September-November
Where: Historic Rural Hill – Huntersville, North Carolina
Experince the fall smell by taking in the aromas of autumn and the sounds of leaves crunching under your feet as you find your way through this amazing maze. After you find your way out of the Historic Rural Hill’s 7-acre corn maze, enjoy a hayride around the beautiful farm, pick your family’s perfect pumpkin, compete in a battle of cornhole or plan a family picnic.
