    Flow, Swim, Fly – A Rockin’ #YogaPoolParty

Last Saturday, LiFE Yoga hosted a one-of-a-kind day festival called #YogaPoolParty, celebrating movement, music, community, and food in an exciting yoga-centered event hosted in the Palace Pool Club.

    Flow, Swim, Fly – A Rockin’ #YogaPoolParty

Like any party, the event kicked off with an amazing beats led by international DJ, producer and mixer Katsy Lee, who coordinated with NYC-trained yoga instructors Alberto Tafoya and Shinead King to create and uplifting atmosphere for a powerful community flow.

    Rock N Flow

Alberto & Shinead are trained in Vinyasa Yoga and traditional Bikram sequence, and believe in creating tandem sequences that are improvised to best suit the environment, energy, and participants. The Rock n' Flow class definitely pushed our participants to their yoga-edge with fast-paced flows and challenging balances like Bird of Paradise & Warrior 3, as they worked up a sweat to the soothing voices of Alberto & Shinead.

After a soothing post-yoga meditation in savasana, participants enjoyed access to the pool to cool off, and a delicious healthy lunch curated by award-winning restaurant Cafe Naya to complement their morning workout. Raffle prizes were given out throughout the day care of Benefit Cosmetics and VMV Hypoallergenics.

    Acroyoga Manila

The afternoon gave way to an even more playful yoga practice as members of AcroYoga Manila. Self-professed AcroMonkeys Pier Lim, Avy Gaerlan, Livs Yao and Jeff Lualhati led AcroYoga beginners in the safety procedures of Acrobatic Yoga, engaging them in some trust and teamwork exercises, and finally teaching them how to enter into graceful flying poses. It was a beautiful opportunity for our participants to meet with one another and literally connect for the sake of yoga!

The afternoon's music was led by local musician and member of the Buwan Buwan Collective LikeAnimals, a beatmaker who debuted his latest project: 7 songs that activated the chakras, starting from the root and ending with the crown. His energetically charged music influenced an atmosphere of creativity, openness, and kindness amongst the community that shared the AcroYoga play area.

    Live Art

Throughout the whole event, freelance artists Kara Pangilinan and Katrina Tianzon collaborated on a standing mural inspired by the outdoors, the fluidity of the yoga sequences, and the chilled out playlists of musicians Katsy Lee and LikeAnimals.

As #YogaPoolParty winded down, participants found themselves enjoying the cool late-afternoon air and the soothing sunset at the poolside for a well-deserved dip.

#YogaPoolParty was sponsored by The Palace Pool Club, VMV Hypoallergenics, Benefit Cosmetics, Twisted Candy, Millenx, UltraVial, and Hudson Paint, with Grid Magazine and WhenInManila.com as the official media partners.
