Realizing The (Ruthless?) Representations Of Lesbians In The Media
The media is greatly biased due to the heteronormative and somewhat traditional society in which it is placed, greatly limiting the roles and representations of lesbians in the media. Because of this, depictions can often be incomplete, incorrect, extreme, or negatively influenced and can affect children, teens, adults, homosexuals, and heterosexuals alike. Understanding the role of portrayals of lesbians in the media and the restrictions placed on them can allow them to take on less negative influences and have a larger, more positive role inside and outside of the community.
