    “I was an animal woman.”

As you probably know by now, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are parents to a bb girl named Khai!

Well, in a new interview with Vogue, Gigi has opened up about all things motherhood — including what her labor experience was like.

Originally, Gigi was planning on giving birth in an NYC hospital, but changed her plans after COVID hit and new restrictions meant that her mother and sister (aka Bella Hadid) wouldn't have been able to be in the delivery room. After watching a documentary with Zayn, they switched to a home birth plan.

Zayn then asked Gigi what music she wanted, and she requested an audiobook of The Indian in the Cupboard. As it turned out, the movie was one of Zayn's faves: "That’s something we’d never talked about, but in that moment we discovered we both loved.”

Gigi opted for giving birth without an epidural in a blow-up bath in the bedroom, with Zayn, Yolanda, Bella, a midwife, and her assistant by her side. "I had to dig deep,” Gigi continued. “I knew it was going to be the craziest pain in my life, but you have to surrender to it and be like, ‘This is what it is.’ I loved that.”

“When you see someone do that, you look at them a bit differently. I probably looked crazy, actually,” Gigi said, describing her 14-hour labor. “I was an animal woman.”

Gigi didn't even realize when her daughter had come out and Zayn had caught her. “I was so exhausted, and I looked up and he’s holding her. It was so cute.”

All the best to the new parents and Khai!
