Cara Delevingne gave a rare interview about her girlfriend, a musician who performs under the name Minke.
Cara and Minke, whose real name is Leah Mason, were first publicly linked back in January via some PDA paparazzi vacation pics. However, Cara confirmed to Vogue earlier this year that they've actually been together since early 2022.
Speaking to Elle, Cara said that her relationship allowed her access to a wider queer community that she felt she missed out on through being so famous so young. "My girlfriend has been really wonderful in introducing me to a lot of things and people," she explained.
In fact, the two actually first met 20 years ago in boarding school and reconnected at an Alanis Morissette concert. Cara further credited Minke with being incredibly supportive of her sobriety, adding that she's one of the reasons "2023 has been the best year I’ve had so far."
"Being with my girlfriend, in this relationship, there are just so many things that came at once that have made me so happy and comfortable with who I am," she added, calling Minke's dildo drum solo at LA Pride "fantastic" with a grin.
On the note of queer joy, she emphasized that people need it "now more than ever, in England and in the US. It’s a scary time for queer people. But the more that we’re met with fear, the more joy we have to bring. Because no one can take that joy away, no matter what. We’re not going anywhere."
She further said that she's "got my eggs to freeze [and] stuff to figure out," ultimately hoping for a "fresh start."
