Blake Lively's New Alcohol Brand Has Been Met With Some Criticism, As The Actor Openly Doesn't Drink

"Drinking isn’t my thing," Blake wrote in a promotional post. "Real ingredients. Quality booze. Also a real time-saver. Which is why I really did it."

Blake Lively has launched a new line of alcoholic beverages, despite not drinking herself.

For context, Blake launched a nonalcoholic mixers brand named Betty Buzz in 2021, saying in a statement, "I don't drink. I know that's odd coming from the wife of an infamous gin slinger. Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol."

Earlier today, it was announced that Blake would be expanding to canned sparkling cocktails with Betty Booze. On her Instagram, Blake wrote, "Drinking isn’t my thing. But for f* sake, flavor is. Homemade recipes. Real fruit. Real ingredients. Quality booze. No crap. Also a real time-saver. Which is why I really did it."

"@bettybuzz Good for all ages and preferences. Zero alcohol. @bettybooze for those who want the alcohol… Because that’s what hosts do. We make something for everyone. And not usually ourselves. Wait, I’m describing moms now," she continued in another post.

Plenty of people — including some famous faces — voiced their excitement at the news:

Ariana Debose wrote, "Ooo i'm excited for this" and Amanda Kloots said "Oh can't wait to try!"

However, others raised their eyebrows at the news of an alcohol brand from someone who openly does not drink:

One person said, "If drinking isn't your thing. Why does it have alcohol??"
One comment read, "How can you market/create a product you don't openly consume yourself?"

Blake isn't the only non-drinking celebrity to be the face of an alcohol brand. In April, Jennifer Lopez launched Delola "ready-to-enjoy" cocktails despite repeatedly saying over the years that she hardly drinks — and is married to a sober alcoholic.

The following month, Brad Pitt unveiled a new gin brand — despite being sober himself and having been accused of domestic violence while previously inebriated.
