Dolly Parton Said She Has No Intention Of Touring Again And, Of Course, It's The Most Selfless Reason

"I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore."

Dolly Parton has a dozen Grammys, an Emmy, a Tony, Golden Globes, a couple of Oscar nominations, and not one, but two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — and she's still on the rise.

But in an interview with Pollstar, Dolly revealed that she’s hanging up her stylish touring boots for good — and it’s because of the people she loves the most.

"I do not think I will ever tour again, but I do know I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then," she said. "Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore."

"I’ve done that my whole life, and it takes so much time and energy. I like to stay a little closer to home with my husband. We’re getting older now, and I don’t want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time."

Which is all the more reason for Dolly to finally clock out from that “9 to 5” when it comes to the touring portion of her almost seven-decade-long career.

"Something could happen. I would not feel right about that, if I were gone and somebody needed me. Or I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me and then I had to walk out on the fans."

Dolly also knows that a lot of work goes into putting a tour together, and she might just not be up to it. "You’ve got to work for weeks to work up a great new show, a new tour they haven’t seen. It takes months to actually plan a tour, as far as booking dates and all that."

"I wouldn’t say that I’m trying to do anything other than what comes along that feels right at the time. I can kind of pick and choose these days, at my age and the years that I’ve been in the business."

The world loves you, Dolly. Take a bow, and take a seat.
