A Completely Baseless And Purely Hypothetical Guess At WTF Is Going On With Taylor Swift And Her Countdown

In case you are not one of the 116 million people following a Taylor Swift on Instagram I am here to inform you that something big is coming.

On April 13, 2019 Taylor posted a 13 day countdown on her Instagram story. This set Swifties ablaze with questions. 13 days to what?!?!? Are we getting a new single?!! Is this AN ALBUM DROP?! WHERE IS TS7!!!!! TAYLOR CAN YOU HEAR ME?!?!?!

Taylor is known for leaving her fans hints about her music, so there are a lot of crazy rumors going around about what it all means.

One of the most popular theories is that a 13 song album will drop on April 26th. The theory is that there will be 13 Instagram posts and each represents a song that will be on the album.

So, assuming that this theory is correct, we basically have the tracklist for the next album. Being the obsessive Swiftie that I am, instead of waiting 24 more hours to find out what's going on, I took a completely baseless and hypothetical guess at what the new album is going to hold.

Here is my made up list of song titles, based solely on Taylor's Instagram posts and a lifetime of devotion to TSwizz...

1. Diamond Heart

Posted on 4.13 - This is literally a picture of a diamond heart, which also sounds like the kind of song Taylor would write. Also, given the happy pastel color scheme of this era, I think this will be a fun, poppy album that most likely starts with a love song.

2. Hands On Me

Posted 4.14 - Literally these are her hands on her. The past two albums have both included one *sexy* song from T, Wildest Dreams on 1989 and Dress on Reputation, so we definitely can expect a steamy one on her newest album.

3. Pretty In Pink

Posted 4.15 - Not only is this clearly a pretty pink dress, this hypothetical song title is also an homage to the iconic 80s teen movie, and the decade that she was born in. It also looks like a ballerina tutu, so maybe we'll get some lyrics about dancing, which I am HERE for.

4. Sunday

Posted 4.15 - In 2019 Sunday isn't just a day, it's a brand. It symbolizes self-care, candles, face masks, and cuddling up with your two adorable cats. Taylor has made it quite clear that she's a girl who likes to stay in, and Sunday is the purrfect day to just hang out at home with these cuties. This song will be a carefree ode to a lazy weekend day.

5. Love In Your Heart

Posted 4.16 - This is literally a picture of a heart (symbolizing love) inside of another heart (symbolizing a heart) - thus the song is called Love In Your Heart. It will be about the same person that the first two songs are about, because it has glittery heart imagery, and this glitter heart is a metaphor for someone who MAKES HER HEART FEEL GLITTERY!!

6. Time's Up

Posted 4.17 - Taylor has been on the cover of Time magazine three times. The most recent time before 2019 was for Person of the Year as one of the silence breakers in the #metoo movement. Her sexual harassment case was widely publicized and she has said multiple times that it affected her deeply. It makes sense that she would address this in a song and it makes even more sense that she would shoutout the organization that aims to take down harassment in the entertainment industry.

7. Round & Round

Posted 4.18 - It is a bike with wheels that move round and round. Vinyl records move round and round. She is making music. So OBVIOUSLY the song is called Round and Round. (...ok, I've got nothing on this one.)

8. All That Glitters

Posted 4.19 - There is a LOT of glitter going on in this era, glitter on her outfits, glitter on her countdown clock, but this is the only picture of just glitter in the countdown. Also, in her cover story with Elle Magazine she says that in her 30 (almost) years she has learned that "All that glitters is not gold". Is this a CLUE Taylor?!?! Are you hinting at a NEW SONG!!!???!

9. Cool Girl (feat. Dixie Chicks)

Posted 4.20 - Okay, this one is weird. HOWEVER it DID NOT stop anyone from coming up with a theory. First off, these are chicks in sunglass, aka cool chicks, aka Cool Girls. Secondly, it is confirmed that the Dixie Chicks were recently working with Jack Antonoff, who has produced several Taylor Swift songs. It's natural that the Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift would be friends, given that they are both girl power artists who were a little too liberal for some of their country fan base. This is a collab I would STAN.

10. Stonewall

Posted 4.21 - Literally this is a stone wall. Yet, it is so much more. Since Taylor moved to NYC in the 1989 era she's been known to name drop the city in her songs (ex: Welcome to New York, "dive bar on the East Side", etc.) She has also become increasingly more vocal about LGBTQ rights saying that "any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG". The Stonewall Riots took place in NYC and are considered to be the most important event leading up to LGBTQ liberation and activism. This song pay respect to the historical event.

11. Sisterhood (feat. Haim)

Posted 4.22 - Just as Tay has been increasingly vocal about LGBTQ issues, she has also been more invested in women's issues. She recently said that in past years she had "newfound acceptance into a sisterhood". Sounds like the perfect topic for a girl power anthem. Who better to write this with then Haim - three musical geniuses who also happen to be sisters? (And can really pull off a set of suits.)

12. Step Into The Daylight

Posted 4.23 - This phrase has been circulating in the *Swiftie community* already because the final piece of advice in her interview with Elle Magazine was "Step into the daylight and let it go." LITERALLY HERE SHE IS STEPPING INTO THE DAYLIGHT DO I NEED TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU.

13. Old Fashioned

Posted 4.24 - Taylor loves her whiskey and has referenced it multiple times in song - "Whiskey on ice, Sunset and Vine" in Gorgeous, and "I knew it from the first Old Fashioned, we were cursed" in Getaway Car. Here we have a picture with whiskey and a bouquet of flowers - what some may call an "old fashioned" token of love. Perhaps this album ends on a love song just as it (completely hypothetically) started on one. Plus, maybe it's a nod to the love that "Old Taylor" so deeply believed in??
