7 Reasons Why It's Difficult To Learn A New Language!!!

Learning an additional language(s) can have an immense impact on your physical brain and psychology yet few people actually follow through with this goal. As most people try to learn languages they pick up a work book and try to read it to death. Try to learn a language by studying withholds important learning clues such as body language and context that you have when you first learn your language.

2. The Rules of Language

Syntax is the set of rules of a language by which we construct sentences. Each language has a different syntax which makes bilingualism even harder. Trying to abandon even the simple way in which your mind organizes thoughts in sentences while learning a different syntax makes it even harder!

3. Chronological

Learning a new language requires a much broader approach than other topics. In history you can start at a specific date and more forward; this is the way we natural like to organize our learning and thoughts. However, language does not work this way as their is not clear path to the start.

4. Implicit Learning

As you age your ability for implicit learning, or your ability to learn without awareness, decreases. Although learning your first language is relatively natural, the second is perplexing problem. Studies have shown increases in adult learning when explicit methods that emphasize conscious effort was used.

5. The More You Know

Studies hav proven that learning one additional language can open the doors in your brain to learn more. Being able to kickstart that process might be hard the first time but will allow you to learn additional foreign languages.

6. Critical Period... It's Time!

Children are not born knowing language; they learn to speak by hearing what happens around them. On the other hand the human brain is programmed to learn extensively in the first years of their lives. Children between 1.5 and 5 years old can learn up to 10 words a day -- adults try to beat that!

7. Not All Languages Are Created Equal

In everyone's mind not all languages are the same. To be successful in learning a new language be dedicated to your goal no matter which one you choose to learn. Some will be quicker to learn but no language is easy to learn.
