It's the cat!
There are eight tokens in total, including the newest addition — this little guy. The cat was added in 2013, replacing the iron.
32 houses, 12 hotels!
Shack up! There are three times as many houses as there are hotels, because one hotel is equal to a bunch of houses.
Roll for it! Highest roll goes first.
First-turn advantage is decided by the luck of the roll. Blowing on the dice first is optional, but encouraged.
Time for a live auction!
Many people think that your turn is simply over when you opt not to purchase a property. Not so! The live auction among all players allows for more interaction in the early stages of the game, and it also speeds it up a bit.
Free Parking is just that - it’s free. It's a resting spot. Take a breather. Smell the roses.
The bank never runs out. Make new money.
You need to literally make more money. It's rare that the bank will run out of funds, but that's the official rule. Break out the printer paper, and keep playing.
You get an extra turn, you lucky dog.
Doubles are great! Take your normal turn, then toss those dice again, friend. You runnin' this.
To jail with you!
Clearly you've beaten the system. It's not natural to throw three doubles in a row! Therefore: incarceration. You understand.
Fun fact: Monopoly was created in 1935, and every property on the board is based off of an area of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Hence — Boardwalk.
Look at you, you titan of industry! It's not easy to get to a hotel level. That's why there are only 12.
You snooze, you lose!
That's right. As a landlord, it's your responsibility to make sure your renters pay up. See? You're learning life lessons all over the place.
Sassing the Hostess!
Yep, only these three things will land you in jail. Be as rude as you want to your gracious host/hostess.
Your charms won't get you out of this one. You can also purchase a "Get Out of Jail Free Card” from another player.
Leave your emotions at the door, people, this is business. You can't give your money away, and you certainly can't borrow.
When all but one player is bankrupt!
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE! The point of the game is to control all properties. To have a Monopoly. So gather some good friends, some good snacks, and turn on the good ol' fashioned competitive spirit.
