I Assigned All 24 Democratic Candidates Scented Candles Based On Their Platforms So You Don't Have To

There's currently a smorgasbord of Democrats (24, according to the New York Times) running for president. If you're like me, you're having a hard time keeping track of all of them. Also, if you're like me, you LOVE candles. Don't fret, good reader, because I've compiled this helpful list of each hopeful's platform along with which candle scent truly represents them as a candidate.

Michael Bennet

Colorado senator Michael Bennet has made the economy his campaign's top priority. Believe it or not, US paper currency is 70% cotton, making this fresh-scented candle a perfect match for all the fresh cotton Bennet wants to pump into our economy.

Joe Biden

Former VP Joe Biden is a familiar face in US politics. Biden's anticipated campaign announcement was overshadowed by multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Nevertheless, Biden relies on his image as a weathered DC-veteran who hasn't lost touch with his working class roots, much like an old pair of cowboy boots.

Cory Booker

Booker, a former Newark mayor, is New Jersey's first black senator. So far his campaign has focused on giving immigration policies and the criminal justice system a restorative boost.

Steve Bullock

Steve Bullock's claim to fame is winning his bid for governor of Montana, a state Donald Trump carried in 2016. Bullock's low polls, however, may send him back to the Montana forest sooner rather than later.

Pete Buttigieg

Mayor Pete's central issues are universal healthcare and LGBTQ+ rights. At 37, Buttigieg's youth has been a major topic of conversation, with some wishing he'd blow out a few more birthday candles before running for office.

Julián Castro

A former Housing secretary in the Obama Administration, Castro's top priorities are immigration reform and Medicare for all. A bluebonnet-scented candle seems apt for this Texas Democrat.

John Delaney

This former Maryland representative is a middle-of-the-road Democrat who's pushing for universal healthcare. According to the New York Times, Delaney has already visited every county in Iowa. By this point he must consider it a second home.

Tulsi Gabbard

Gabbard, a representative from Hawaii, has received pushback from fellow Democrats over a past meeting with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, as well as her history of homophobic comments and policies. She has mainly spoken against US military involvement in foreign regime changes. Gabbard's policies have been criticized as archaic and negligible, much like this unscented taper candle.

Kirsten Gillibrand

Gillibrand, a New York senator, has built her campaign on a message of women's equality and likes to push her image as a young mom.

Kamala Harris

John Hickenlooper

Hickenlooper, a former Colorado Governor, has become lost in the quagmire of Democratic hopefuls. His website details his platform, which contains typical party issues like raising the minimum wage, gun safety and climate change policy. If Hickenlooper doesn't raise his national profile soon, he may be forced to retreat to the Centennial State.

Jay Inslee

Inslee is the current governor of Washington and holds many environmentalist stances. Inslee has made climate change and renewable energy central to his platform.

Amy Klobuchar

Like Kamala Harris, Klobuchar made her mark during the Kavanaugh hearings, where she earned our nation's highest honor—being parodied by Rachel Dratch on SNL. The Minnesota senator's campaign has focused on lowering drug prices and combating the ongoing opioid epidemic. Soon after her campaign announcement, current and former staffers alleged to the HuffPost that Klobuchar's exacting attitude towards her aides makes her office a tough place to work.

Wayne Messam

Messam, a first-generation American and the current mayor of Miramar, FL, wants to cancel all student debt, a move that would make many book lovers happy.

Seth Moulton

Beto O'Rourke

The former state representative, who is usually seen giving sweaty, impassioned speeches under the Texas sun, is one of the party's top fundraisers. After Trump nicknamed her "Pocahontas", Warren touted the results of a DNA test, claiming Cherokee heritage—a move that ultimately backfired. Marianne Williamson
