Sometimes you put things off forever and rush to finish them at the end. And sometimes you absolutely must have a giant block of time to get ish done! The kicker is that you do you, boo. So - go with the flow and see what you need to do when and how. Maybe internal deadlines will work this time? Or maybe they won't. Whoops. So be flexible or it will leave you in your own misery

Your anthem is Taylor Swift's mad woman. You are someone who waits and waits to work on a project and then BOOM you go 100% on it for hours or days. Your approach might drive your coauthors a little wild until they get used to your flashes of brilliance. They should figure out how to deal because when you are on, you are ON. You need to figure out the kinds of work that you can do one the daily - is it the lit reviews, the data cleaning, etc? Can you work your way towards setting yourself up for those mad dashes? And how can you structure your life so that you have chunks of time when the inspiration does hit you? Hint: move your teaching to one or two days if possible, Schedule meetings on those days too. Give yourself TIME. Or else you will be poking that bear 'til her claws come out and you will feel unmotivated and uninspired.

You are the bad guy, the procrastinator, the one who waits until the last minute. But you know what? You eventually get it done! That's right, suckers! IT GETS DONE. just at the very last minute. You need that threat, that breathing down your neck, to really motivate you. Hey - if it actually works for you, congrats! You found your motivation. But can you replicate this in smaller batches so you aren't crapping out three conference papers in two days every March? External accountability may be the path to motivation for you - ask, why is it that the conference makes you GSD? Can you workshop papers with friends more frequently so you have regular deadlines to procrastinate about? Can you send parts of your conference papers to friends for feedback? Or use a writing coach? Or are you just going to be good at being bad, bad?

You are a slow-and-steady anthem. You are really good at working on a project for chunks of time, grinding along until it is done. In your ideal work, you'd work 4-5 hours a day, 5-6 days a week, slowly pecking along until BOOM it is done. You thrive on routine and doing the same thing all the time. You might eat the same meal frequently. You aren't TIED to your routine but it is also hard to break out of out it! You may need to change locations to vacation because the work is always there, beaconing you. You don't really struggle with motivation, but it is hard for you to work with others who have different work styles. That's because you know you are a queen but you don't need no crown
