Just a few songs from my Summer '17 track list. Here are some good songs to keep your headphones in all summer.

If you have ever met me and spent any extended period of time around me, you would know that I LOVE MUSIC. Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.

As 2017 continues to get off to an amazing start, my music playlist have been jumping with new songs and hidden gems that I have found online. I wanted to share and spotlight a few of my favorite songs and artists and share them with you. I hope you can feel the vibe and press play on my top songs and artists of 2017.

RKCB X BAPTIZE

As a song that I discovered in probably my second week of college freshman year, this is one of my favorites. The soothing chords and slow beat make for a chill vibe. RKCB put a new light, expansive, and soulful spin on classic R&B. This song will leave an impression on you making you wanting more.

ASH X PLEASE LIKE ME & WRONG NUMBER Ash is an artist who previously sang background for Janelle Monae (which is already a major plus for my musical taste). I love a great singer songwriter and she fits my music taste perfectly. The smoot and layered melodies sound a little vintage, but the melodies and and beats keep the songs refreshing and current. These new releases are perfect to start . She combines her 80s inspired funky and cool vocals meshed with positive and love inspired lyrics combine to make music harmony Her aesthetic matches her music – the clash of the future and the past.

BRIK LIAM X PLEASE CONTINUE & EVEN Brik Liam is not only one of THE most creative individuals I have had to pleasure to come across, he is just a really cool dude. A soulful singer whose inspiration has no genre, Brik can combine his songwriting talents with his ear for music and his colorful melodies. These new releases not only carry the same positive and uplifting lyrics from his past music, but it shows off both his range and harmonies. He is one to look out for, mark my words. LACHARDON X JUST A JERK

LaChardon is one of my favorites. All of the runs and inflections just blow my mind every time I hear her sing. She can take one of the simplest songs and put her spin on it and it becomes an instant classic. There is not even much to say about her, she takes every song and makes it her own. All of her covers to me are better than the originals. Just a jerk was released summer 2016 but it has been a constant song in my playlist and so I am bringing it back. It is more of a pop track but her soulful vocals are on point. The way she sang that song was masterful. If you have not heard her – go check out this song.

JOHN MAYER X MOVING ON AND GETTING OVER

John Mayer is one of the artists who kind of snuck up on me and became an instant classic for 2017. I would say this is a slightly r&b and slightly rock song with a powerful message that does not apply to just a break up. Moving on and getting better is my anthem dedicated to my 2016. The song is done in all falsetto with a kick drum, electric guitar, and crazy bass, it’s all that. It’s such a chill and positive VIBE. The end of typical break up songs are pretty sad, but John Mayer made this a happy ending because he is moving on and getting over it.
