Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed holds the world record for most prolific serial killer. The Hungarian noble was accused of torturing and killing hundreds of girls and women between 1690 and 1710. Most of the crimes she was accused of were most likely true, but some are very unlikely, including being accused of bathing in the blood of virgins, and of summoning a cloud of cats to torment her enemies.

Giulia Tofana was a professional poisoner. When she was born, divorce was not a concept which existed. She had an abusive father, and while not much is known about her home life, it is very possible that her mother was Thofania d'Adamo, who was executed for murdering her husband. After the death of her parents, Giulia would spend time with apothecaries, and eventually created her own poison, Aqua Tofana. She then went on to sell her poison to women in dangerous relationships who wanted to kill their abusive husbands. In July 1659, she was executed after admitting under torture to the murder of 600 men.

Mary Carleton was an woman who used false identities to marry and defraud numerous men. First she disguised herself as an orphaned princess, but was soon exposed after marrying John Carleton. She then went on to act in a play about her own life, where she was given money and many gifts from her admirers. Then she married one of those admirers, and left one night when he was drunk, taking his valuables and money. After that, she pretended to be a rich heiress, and was soon wed to her landladies nephew. She then stole his money and left again, going on to repeat this con many more times before her hanging in 1673.
