For those of you who don't know already, the "Mothman" is one of the most infamous cryptoids in American culture. His origins draw back to the sixties in rural West Virginia where locals claimed to have seen the half-man, half-moth creature flying about their township of Point Pleasant just before a tragic bridge collapse which claimed many lives.

The Point Pleasant horror story was made famous with a Hollywood adaptation, starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney, properly titled: "The Mothman Prophecies" (2002).

Now, it seems the natives of Chicago and Milwaukee have been seeing the mysterious creature in their vicinity. Read more on the sightings: Here, here, and here.

Why The Midwest?

Whatever reason the Mothman has for making its presence known across the Great Lakes region, we hope it does not prove to be a warning of something disastrous to come.

Notably throughout history, sightings of the Mothman have been seen before some sort of great tragedy or disaster, including the Chernobyl Incident.
