Here's How You Can Make Sure Hurricane Harvey Victims Get A Full Meal Tonight

Every dollar can help fund up to eight meals.

As the nation's first major (category 3 or higher) hurricane since October 2005, Hurricane Harvey has caused billions of dollars of damage and claimed the lives of at least 70 people. And while eyes may have shifted to Florida, this region is still in catastrophic shape and needs our help.

If you'd like to contribute help but are clueless on how or where to get started, here are some options:

1. Donate money to one of these food banks:

Paramount Pictures

Houston Food Bank: "Donations will be used for disaster relief until this year’s needs are met, and the remaining funds will support ongoing hunger relief efforts."

Coastal Bend Food Bank (Formerly known as Corpus Christi Food Bank): "Coastal Bend Food Bank has been working hard to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The food bank opened its community pantry to the community and is distributing food to those in need."

Food Bank of the Golden Crescent: "Your generosity and support will help create stability and hope for our hungry neighbors, who are now facing the devastation as well as the recovery process ahead of them."

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston: "Hurricane Harvey brought widespread flooding and damage throughout the Archdiocese. Many families will need short-term and long-term recovery services to rebuild their lives."

2. If you're in Texas, you can also donate food:

Houston Food Bank: Call 713-547-8662 or 713-547-8643 to schedule a pick-up, and make sure to have this information handy.

Coastal Bend Food Bank: "You may deliver your collected food directly to the Coastal Bend Food Bank warehouse located at 826 Krill street."

3. You can even volunteer your time and energy at a food bank:

San Antonio Food Bank: Scroll through and choose from various events and time slots for which you can volunteer.

4. Donate money to the Salvation Army, which provides food and drink to those affected.

"If you donate to Hurricane Harvey (and designate your gift to that disaster) 100% of the gift will be used in support of that event. It may be used to provide food and drinks to survivors, cleaning supplies and other essential commodities, direct financial aid to those affected, or to support disaster relief workers serving in the area."

5. Host a food drive to gather goods:

Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley: "Food Drives are one of the most traditional ways to help your Food Bank RGV feed the hungry." To get started, fill out this registration form here, print out this sign, and you're pretty much good to go.

Brazos Valley Food Bank: "Food drives are a fun and easy way to support the Brazos Valley Food Bank. Individuals, groups and organizations all sizes and ages can host successful food drives that help feed those in need in our community." To get started, fill out this registration form and await an email within 3-5 days with further instructions.
