The Latest Television Shows Are More Relatable Than Ever Before

In the entire 10 seasons and 236 episodes, there were a total of 23 black people, and one Asian shown. No wonder why Friends made it to Complex Magazine’s list of “The 50 Most Racist TV Shows of All Time,” coming in as number 41.

This one episode on How I Met Your Mother definitely got very negative feedback for obvious reasons. Come on directors, can't you hire actual Asian actors instead of dressing up the main cast to look like Asian stereotypes?

Not so legen-wait for it-dary

AMC's The Walking Dead has built up the relationship of two of these main characters for a while now, and no I will not spoil who! With the discrimination still seen to this day with interracial couples, It's good to see these two strong leads embracing it. Love is love.

Empire brings great black representation given its cast, and it caused for more viewing for it being relatable to the public. This hit show that is watched by millions is one of the many in the uprising of showing diversity on screen which we can identify with.

Black Power

The cast of Grey's Anatomy consists of actors of all racial and ethnic background due to the color-blind casting done by the creator, Shonda Rhimes. The individual roles were based off of a characters personality and work ethic rather than race. Yay for equal representation!

Marvel's first black superhero is also a hero to our own communities. His tribute to Treyvon Martin is something that hits deeper into today's problems in society. #BlackLivesMatter

Bullets won't tear him down

OITNB is one of the most diverse television shows today. It embraces all these things with their female led cast, empowering women and making the issues encountered in the show relatable to the real world.
