While being a woman is amazing, it also comes with an inherent set of challenges — due to a myriad of reasons. (Just read America Ferrera's speech from Barbie if you're of the opposite sex to get an idea of what it's like to be a woman today).
Not only do women have to take extra safety precautions like never leaving their drink unattended at the bar or being alert when going for a run alone, but there's also SO much more women have to deal with in their daily lives due to societal expectations.
So if you're a woman, we want to know the specific moments where you either felt discriminated against or made very keenly aware of your gender during certain interactions. (i.e. your brothers got "benefits," someone assumed you were an assistant, etc.)
For instance, maybe you noticed your male colleague got a higher salary than you despite having the same qualifications and experience or maybe you found out during the hiring process, that they couldn't give you a salary number until they finalized his salary first because of "budget reasons."
Perhaps you're sick and tired of hearing sexist comments such as, "You throw like a girl," or were "othered" because a close relative didn't believe you could do something (like change a tire) because you're a woman.
Or maybe you always wondered why your school didn't have a football team for women even though you crushed it on the field?
Also, when you experienced being "othered" for being a woman, how did you feel in that moment, and what happened after the fact?
Whether you've personally had experiences like these or know another woman who has, now's your chance to shed light on what really happened and how you felt in the moment if you feel comfortable doing so.
