I was intrigued by the news media at a young age. The voices of news anchors always roamed throughout my house, especially after the attack of 9/11 since my parents would always watch/read/listen to the news. Although it was a scary time, the news reporters who covered the attack and the Iraq War that followed were my heroes and heroines. Politics is almost always the topic of conversation in the news media, and I enjoy following political news. The recent election has torn many hearts, including mine, but I think now more than ever journalists should aspire to be ethical truth tellers for the well-being of our future.

When I think about popular culture, I think of society and the many influences that connect and shape who we are and who we can become. I think the best way to inspire generations is through art and popular culture. Art, humanitarian work, start-up companies, and trending topics are often the fun or heartwarming stay-up-to-date topics within the realm of popular culture for many people. The ALS ice bucket challenge, the mannequin challenge, and the running man challenge are a few of the most recent trending topics to impact pop culture.

Who doesn't love to imagine living like Queen Bey, or being the highest paid actress like Jennifer Lawrence, or even being emotionally intelligent like Drake? Entertainment is a fun topic to keep up with because you are bound to get a laugh or a bit of excitement from the newest tv show, music album, or art/music event. I'd like to blog about entertainment because in many ways it's connected to popular culture.
