10 Things All HBCU Students And Alumni Know To Be True

Only six months until homecoming season! Let the countdown begin.

    1. Chicken Wednesdays were lit like Bic. Don't deny it.

    2. For broke college kids, a swipe into the cafe can save a life.

    3. At an HBCU, 'Football Season' is really 'Marching Band Season'!

    4. We all know that the ACTUAL National Anthem is "Lift Every Voice and Sing".

    5. Every HBCU has a Rival HBCU to which there are no boundaries for shit-talking.

F.Y.I., HBCU band shit-talking is 1000 times more intense.

    6. At the same time, non-HBCUs are not in the same exclusive shit-talking club and should not partake in the festivities.

    7. Intramural basketball games and dorms step-shows were sometimes more intense than the real deal.

    8. Despite what our high school history classes may say, Black History is so much more than MLK and Rosa Parks. Most of us learn the most about our history when we enter the collegiate bliss that is an HBCU.

    9. When a tragedy strikes the black community, HBCUs band together like no other. Expect lots of marches, rallies, vigils, and protests on campus.

    10. People who don't/didn't' attend an HBCU can never FULLY understand the impact that it has had/will have on our lives. Sometimes we're all we have, and for that reason we have to stick together. #HBCUPride!
